Rhuddlan Castle is open 5 days a week from Thursday–Monday

If you are purchasing admission tickets online please remember:

  • purchased tickets cannot be refunded — please check you’re able to attend on the date you have booked
  • book a ticket for every member of your party
  • 1st year English Heritage and Historic Scotland members are entitled to 50% reduced price entry; please book a free member ticket and pay your reduced admission on arrival
  • if you're planning to visit more than one of our sites, a Cadw membership can work out much cheaper than buying a ticket for each site - especially for families. Ask our custodians about this when you visit. They can refund your admission fee if you join on the same day!

Notes about Rhuddlan Castle:

► Last entry to the castle is 30 minutes before closing time.

► The car park of 25 spaces is for visitors only, for the duration of their visit, and is locked when the castle closes. Please park well within the marked bays. Visitors wishing to remain in the area after their visit are kindly requested to remove their vehicle and find alternative parking outside the castle grounds.

► Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but must be held on a short lead at all times and are only allowed on the ground levels of the castle (not on the staircases or viewing platforms and this includes carrying).

► Balls, frisbees, bicycles, tricycles, skateboards and scooters (except mobility scooters) are not allowed into the castle. Bicycles can be chained and left outside the visitor centre at owners' risk.

► Only ticket holders can take food and drink purchased in the shop into the castle grounds.

► Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult of 18 years or over and supervised throughout their visit.

► Ancient monuments can be dangerous. Sensible footwear is advised and it is forbidden to climb on the walls. Children and the vulnerable must be supervised at all times. Visitors are warned to take every care to avoid accidents.

If you are feeling well and so are the people you live with you’re welcome to visit Cadw sites as they re-open. If you or people around you have flu or common cold-like symptoms please stay at home and book your tickets at a later date. If you become ill after booking your tickets please email cadw@pti.cymru

Please check our social media channels before you visit in case of any site closures. If in doubt please call the site directly before you travel. All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable due to our need to strictly control the number of people onsite at all times. Should the site close for any unforeseen reason all ticket purchases for that period will be automatically refunded. Please contact us if you do not receive your refund within 10 working days.

If you have reserved free tickets, your ticket may be invalid without an accompanying membership card or proof of promotion.

The following free entry categories must be accompanied by proof of membership to validate your ticket; Cadw member, English Heritage Member, Historic Scotland Member, CSSC member, Monument Pass holder, Local Residents’ Pass holders, Senior Pass holders.

Any free ticket without the backing of the above will be invalid. Please note that this does not apply to disabled visitor and companion access. If you are in doubt whether you qualify for free entry please email cadw@pti.cymru

Please arrive at the site during the time allocated on your ticket. Entries will not be processed for those who arrive before or after their allotted time. The length of time permitted onsite will vary, please check the information provided on our website for the site you wish to visit.

Please have your ticket ready to scan before you enter the site. 

Please at all times adhere to the site safety signage and any government restrictions in place regarding social distancing. New government guidelines may be in place between booking your ticket and visit our sites – please make sure you are aware of all mandatory safety measures before visiting our sites.

For your safety we are: restricting visitor numbers to safe levels; ensuring social distancing; providing hand sanitiser stations and implementing enhanced hygiene routines in toilets and any communal open areas.

One way systems may be in place and some of our sites may have restricted access during this period, with some small or narrow spaces not accessible.

Cadw is a member of the ‘We’re good to go’ scheme.

Cadw is supporting the NHS Test and Trace scheme as part of our promise to keep both staff and visitors as safe as is possible.

We will be using data collected from online bookings should the need arise to use this service. Please advise us if you wish to opt-out from your information being included in any data we need to provide.
